MISS UNIVERSE 2007

I have just learned that the latest edition of the Miss Universe pageant will be held in Mexico City next month. This piece of news would not be significant if we did not consider one thing: that this kind of events greatly contributes to expand a really unfortunate concept of beauty in general and especially of women´s beauty, that where image prevails over real substance, so to speak. We all know that those who buy that concept strive to fulfill it and normally tend to lead a very doubtful mind.

I am not one of those who think that beauty is just inner beauty. I think outer beauty does exist but it begins with an inner connection. I know not everybody believes that. I recently conducted an experiment (Hehehehe!) while being on vacation where I posted photos of two of my best friends on one of those friend´s connection internet sites. One of them is a very good looking guy, according to the media common stereotype; the other one is quite the opposite. The first one received 93 invitations (some of them accompanied with pretty weird proposals) from all kind of women in a period of time of 3 days; the second one received… cero. Why? Something´s wrong!

My father said my scientific experiment was a clear example of wasting time… I would not say so… I would rather call it science, though I am not sure yet about which one of them (Hehe..) but good enough to prove some of our concepts need to be improved, especially those ones which affect our perception of the other and not few times our own.

If you want to stare at the real beauty of a human being just look into their eyes, they do not lie. A word from the Christianity said that words are the voice of heart, but not nowadays, sights are the words of heart... if you look at someone who is not too pretty you can have a sight of fathom beauty, their uttermost thoughts. Millions of lovely eyes speak about death and hypocrisy. Take care.!!!!

Your post is sooooooooo true!
Being English but living in Milan I'm still shocked by Italian TV shows...Fat, balding men sarounded by half naked young girls! the strange thing is that the girls themselves don't seem to mind!
British Tv is a lot better! As for Miss Universe...no way can I watch that shit (although I must admit to being tempted)
Cheers..

Raingurl, my friend: nice to have you around! Thank you very much for your comment. I do agree with you: outer beauty does count and personal appearance is its expression too... Do you agree with me that it should be a reflex of what lives inside?

Were that the case, we could find everydody´s real beauty on his/her eyes, as my brother Darko suggests and especially with women, on they way they smile... I adore that!! Hehehhehe...

Have a great day!!

Someone wiser said to me before... beauty is relative. The more relatives you have, the more beautiful you are... hweehehehe. Sorry, dude, just kidding around :D
Have a fun weekend.
And yes, I agree, with you and Darko as well.

I think,
if you are in love then you'll see the beauty of that beloved person.
But if you are out of love (in hatred) then all you see is the ugly part of that hated person.

But in general,
I guess attitude is the biggest influence on that wht we call beauty..

What d'u think Abang??

CÓMO PUEDE SER QUE NUESTRAS SOCIEDADES SIGAN TENIENDO ESTE TIPO DE CONCURSOS TAN...CÓMO DECIRLO...OFENSIVOS PARA LA MUJER.?
ESE ROSTRO EN LA FOTO...ME DIO PENA.
SÉ QUE ESTÁ BUENO RECONOCER LA BELLEZA...PERO TODO EL EMPORIO ALREDEDOR DE ESTO...ME PARECE QUE YA ES DE MEDIADOS DEL XX.

:)
CHE
CÓMO ESTÁS?
EN QUÉ ANDÁS?

ZJ: Hehehehehe!! Nice Joke my friend! I think that I am going to be using it in the near future. I am glad you are back!

JustMe: My friend, excellent comment: You have just put my brain to work hehehehe, let´s see: probably you don´t necessary have to be in love to appreciate beautiness (but it does help, no doubt about it)... While being in love not everything is beautiful (I can tell u about it hehehehe).. Attitude is a very important factor as you say and I would add: knowledge; rephrasing zj´s joke: the more you know, the better appreciation of beautiful things you have... However, let´s face it: what could I possibly tell YOU my beautiful twin about beauty??

Jake: Tienes toda la razón amiga! yo tambien sentí un poco de pena por la mujer de la foto... es triste en verdad... la verdadera belleza de la mujer tiene que ver poco con ese concepto y por supuesto esta más allá de ello..

Jake: You are right, my friend! I felt a little bit ashamed too for that picture... it is really sad... women´s beauty has nothing to do with that concept: it goes beyond that..

Kisses my friends

Well, this woman's mouth scares me, like perhaps she eats little men for dinner.

Wow... great traffic here :p
I must say that I totally agree with you... but your "non-scientific" experiment simply showed the obvious: inner-beauty cannot be normally seen in a picture. It actually comes out in manners, in personal contact.
The more I think about how lost hummanity´s been, I also recall the Greeks and their idealized bodies and the Goldon number ;D
So nothing comes from yesterday ;)
